Did you know you can be married at the Vatican?

When someone mentions Italy, the first thing that comes to mind is romance, great food, and beautiful sites. Why not have your honeymoon in Italy? Why not have your destination wedding in Italy? It is not any more expensive or difficult plan. If this is your dream, share and have the adventures. The trip will be filled with historical sites, villages, art museums and you'll meet warm and delightful people at the destination. Its all part of the experience plus finding those romantic Cucina Rustica's. In Italy, you can find it all.

The best seasons to visit
Definitely don't go to Italy in the months of July and August if possible because it is too packed with tourists and hard to get rooms. Also, it gets pretty hot during that time. The best months are October, November, March, April, May, and early June. You also need at least 7 or 8 days to visit; two weeks or more is ideal.

Plan to explore at least two areas or more
The country is diverse, as are the people and what you will find in each region. The coastlines and beaches on the Mediterranean are not to be missed and the cities are filled with designer stores, street cafes, plazas and history.

Packing- pack light! - Except bring an extra suitcase for the great items you buy!
Casual clothing and great walking shoes plus one or two evening outfits and a light coat, rain slicker and umbrella. At the airport buy their electric appliances -their circuits are different and you can blow the power at your hotel.

Getting there
The Leonardo De Vinci Airport in Rome is likely the airport you'll fly into. For tickets, do your work on the internet and give yourself time to find a good price. Flights on Tuesday-Thursday are less.

Where to stay - boutique hotels our the luxury Hyatts and Major Resorts
Explore hotels on the internet and request brochures from their tourism website found on www.A-Honeymoon.com. Depending on your adventure, book your hotel ahead, especially if this is your honeymoon...it relieves the stress. Yes, the airport does have a hotel desk, but remember you do not know the area, distances, taxi fees, bus schedules. That's a lot to deal with when you are traveling. Many people like to rent rooms or a villa in two different parts of the country and travel in the regions by car with day trips.

Most people want their maps and tour books in advance of the trip
Bookstores carry numerous guidebooks and maps can be achieved from the tourism bureaus. The internet will be invaluable to determine the sites you want to see. Most historical sites have scheduled tours. Some travelers book group tours with English speaking guides, but most honeymooners want privacy that a group tour does not give. Towns and historical locations have guided tours to sign on to.

Cruising the Mediterranean
A POPULAR method to honeymoon and see Italy is aboard a cruise ship. They enter several ports and have land tours to make certain their passengers have time to explore different areas. Some cruise ships will leave you for a week and you can pick up the next cruise docking to complete your trip. This is called a land and sea package.
